The Social Studies HOD will provide direction to secondary teaching teams while maintaining a strong connection with daily classroom delivery. Key Responsibilities
* Lead the planning and delivery of Social Studies across secondary grade levels.
* Work directly with teachers to strengthen subject knowledge, classroom practice, and instructional confidence.
* Review curriculum plans and ensure that content is sequenced logically across year groups.
* Contribute actively to departmental and whole-school academic planning.
* Support school leaders in identifying priorities for improving teaching and student achievement.
* Promote classroom practices aligned with the UAE teaching framework and the expected standard of good teaching.
The HOD will use lesson evidence, student work, assessment data, and teacher feedback to identify areas requiring focused departmental support.
* Conduct lesson observations and provide clear and constructive developmental feedback.
* Coordinate shared planning and help teachers select effective resources and teaching methods.
* Monitor curriculum coverage and address gaps that could affect student progression.
* Review assessment quality and promote consistent marking and reporting practices.
* Analyze performance information and coordinate interventions for students requiring additional support.
