Role Context
The Social Studies Teacher - Primary School role supports high-quality teaching and learning at Abdulla Bin Otaiba Charter School, an American Curriculum primary school in Mohamed Bin Zayed City, Abu Dhabi. The teacher will help students build knowledge of society, culture, citizenship, geography, history, leadership, and community values through well-planned lessons and age-appropriate classroom activities.
This position requires a teacher who can inspire students, support different learning needs, maintain high expectations, and contribute to a school culture built around collaboration, leadership, creativity, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging Social Studies lessons aligned with the American Curriculum and school learning expectations.
* Plan and present age-appropriate lessons that support student curiosity, cultural awareness, and civic understanding.
* Create a positive classroom environment where students feel encouraged to participate, ask questions, and think independently.
* Use varied teaching strategies to support different ability levels and learning styles.
* Develop students’ understanding of communities, heritage, geography, history, leadership, and responsible citizenship.
* Encourage collaboration, creativity, discussion, and respectful communication during classroom activities.
* Monitor student progress through regular assessment, classroom observation, and feedback.
* Use assessment outcomes to adjust lesson planning and provide additional support where needed.
* Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort, participation, and academic progress.
* Build positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.
* Support school values and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment.
* Participate in planning, school events, enrichment activities, and wider academic initiatives.

Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Studies, Humanities, or a related subject.
* Recognised teaching qualification is preferred.
* Experience teaching in a primary school environment is preferred.
* Knowledge of the American Curriculum is an advantage.
* Ability to teach young learners with patience, creativity, and strong classroom organisation.
* Passion for education and commitment to nurturing the whole child.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
