Position Overview

Science Teacher - American Curriculum in Abu Dhabi Emirate, United Arab Emirates is a Primary-Secondary Education opportunity for an enthusiastic educator who can deliver engaging science lessons, raise student achievement, and support whole-child development. Aldar Education is hiring a qualified teacher for Al Ghad Charter School for the 2026-2027 academic year to provide inclusive instruction, use assessment data effectively, and contribute to a progressive American Curriculum learning community.

Role Context

The Science Teacher will plan and deliver purposeful lessons that develop scientific knowledge, inquiry skills, critical thinking, and confidence among students. The role requires effective classroom practice, differentiated instruction, accurate assessment, positive behaviour management, and regular communication


with parents and colleagues.

Working within the school\'s Excite, Challenge, Empower mission, the teacher will create learning experiences that respond to different ability levels and help Emirati students achieve strong academic and personal outcomes. The position also contributes to curriculum development, extracurricular activities, school events, safeguarding, and the wider professional life of Al Ghad Charter School.

Key Responsibilities

* Plan and deliver engaging science lessons aligned with the American Curriculum and school learning objectives.
* Inspire students to explore scientific concepts through investigation, questioning, experimentation, and practical application.
* Adapt lesson content, activities, resources, and support to meet the needs of students across the full ability range.
* Establish clear learning intentions and success criteria for each lesson.
* Create a stimulating classroom environment with suitable learning resources, displays, and science materials.
* Motivate students through imaginative teaching strategies and relevant real-world scientific examples.
* Monitor class progress and maintain responsibility for the academic development of assigned students.
* Observe, assess, and record student attainment in accordance with school assessment procedures.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment data to identify learning gaps, adjust planning, and organise targeted interventions.
* Provide timely and constructive feedback that helps students understand their progress and next learning steps.
* Maintain accurate records of achievement, development, attendance, interventions, and assessment outcomes.
* Report student progress and wellbeing to parents and caretakers during conferences and scheduled meetings.
* Work with parents to support student happiness, engagement, behaviour, and academic success.
* Apply the school\'s behaviour policy consistently and manage classes using approaches suited to individual student needs.
* Promote self-control, responsibility, independence, respect, and positive learning habits.
* Build professional and supportive relationships with students while exercising appropriate authority when required.
* Model the attitudes, conduct, values, and standards expected throughout the school community.
* Collaborate with science teachers and other colleagues when planning lessons, assessments, resources, and curriculum activities.
* Work cooperatively with curriculum support staff to ensure appropriate provision for students requiring additional assistance.
* Liaise with speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, educational psychologists, and other specialists when needed.
* Embed the school\'s Teacher and Learner DNA language and attitudes across classroom practice.
* Participate in curriculum action groups that support planning, assessment, resource development, and subject-related events.
* Communicate student achievements, wellbeing concerns, and safeguarding information through approved systems, including CPOMS where appropriate.
* Organise or support science activities, school trips, special events, exhibitions, and enrichment programmes.
* Lead one weekly extracurricular activity during each school term.
* Assist with school events and activities that may occasionally take place during evenings or weekends.
* Reflect on lesson effectiveness, student response, classroom provision, and progress to improve future teaching.
* Contribute positively to the wider ethos, culture, and continuous development of the school.
* Follow safeguarding, child-protection, health and safety, and professional conduct requirements.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor\'s degree in Science or a directly related subject.
* PGCE or another recognised professional teaching qualification.
* 1-2 years of relevant classroom teaching experience.
* Previous experience teaching students who use English as an additional language.
* Clear understanding of American Curriculum expectations and effective science teaching practice.
* Ability to plan differentiated lessons for learners with varied abilities, language levels, and educational needs.
* Experience using assessment information to improve lesson planning and student intervention.
* Strong classroom organisation and behaviour-management capability.
* Passion for science education and commitment to supporting the development of the whole child.
* High level of professionalism and consistent consideration for student welfare.
* Recent participation in extracurricular activities, enrichment programmes, or school events.
* Strong communication skills when working with students, parents, colleagues, and specialist professionals.
* Respectful and inclusive approach toward all members of the school community regardless of position, gender, age, nationality, or background.
* Positive, flexible, and solution-focused attitude toward daily school responsibilities.
