Role Context
The Teacher - Female Physical Education will be responsible for planning, teaching, assessing, and improving PE learning experiences for students from KG up to Grade 8. The role supports the school’s wider vision by promoting healthy lifestyles, physical confidence, sportsmanship, student engagement, and high standards of teaching practice. Working closely with colleagues, parents, school leaders, and sports teams, the teacher will contribute to curriculum delivery, performance tracking, extracurricular activities, school events, and a safe learning environment where every child is encouraged to reach their potential.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality Physical Education lessons that support student fitness, movement skills, teamwork, confidence, and enjoyment of sport.
* Create a positive learning climate where students feel safe, motivated, challenged, and encouraged to participate fully.
* Identify clear lesson objectives and explain how skills, activities, and student progress will be taught, assessed, and improved.
* Set appropriate expectations for students and design tasks that maintain interest, pace, challenge, and active participation.
* Use prior attainment, assessment information, and performance data to plan differentiated learning matched to student needs.
* Teach and develop core PE skills across volleyball, basketball, athletics, fitness activities, and age-appropriate physical education units.
* Maintain effective lesson routines, behaviour expectations, punctuality standards, equipment use, and safe working practices.
* Help students acquire, practice, and consolidate physical skills, tactical understanding, sports knowledge, and personal development habits.
* Evaluate teaching practice regularly and adjust lesson delivery to improve learning outcomes and student engagement.
* Mark, monitor, assess, and record student progress in line with departmental and academy procedures.
* Set clear student targets and use assessment outcomes to improve future planning, teaching methods, and individual support.
* Prepare informative reports for parents and communicate progress, strengths, development areas, and next steps professionally.
* Support examination or assessment requirements where relevant to the PE curriculum and school expectations.
* Contribute to curriculum development by helping shape subject plans, improvement targets, success criteria, and resource use.
* Coach and support high-level sports teams, competitions, extracurricular activities, and wider school sports programs.
* Participate in open days, parent teacher consultations, marketing events, school activities, and community liaison opportunities.
* Work cooperatively with colleagues to share resources, strengthen teaching quality, and support academy-wide improvement priorities.
* Follow all school policies related to safeguarding, child protection, health and safety, equal opportunities, dress code, attendance, and acceptable computer use.
* Attend staff briefings, professional training, performance management activities, and annual safeguarding or health and safety sessions.
* Maintain professional conduct, confidentiality, respectful communication, and a strong example for students at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a related field with a recognized teaching qualification.
* Minimum 2 years of PE teaching experience from KG up to Grade 8 is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of volleyball, basketball, athletics, physical literacy, student fitness, and school sports coaching.
* Experience in coaching and leading competitive or high-performing school sports teams.
* Experience delivering assessments or exams related to the subject area will be an advantage.
* Previous experience teaching students for whom English is not their first language is desirable.
* Strong classroom management skills with the ability to motivate students and maintain a safe, active PE environment.
* Able to plan lessons that are differentiated, inclusive, challenging, and aligned with curriculum expectations.
* Passionate about teaching the whole child, including physical wellbeing, confidence, resilience, teamwork, and character development.
* High level of professionalism with genuine care for student safety, welfare, progress, and personal growth.
* Consistent involvement in extracurricular activities, sports clubs, student events, or wider school life.
