Role Context
The
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging and interactive Computer Science lessons that follow school curriculum standards and learning expectations.
* Teach high school students using inquiry-based methods, practical activities, coding tasks, digital projects, and real-world technology examples.
* Develop creative teaching strategies that inspire curiosity, critical thinking, problem solving, and a love of Computer Science.
* Support students in programming, computational thinking, algorithmic reasoning, digital literacy, data concepts, and technology-based project work.
* Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varied abilities, learning styles, interests, and prior experience.
* Maintain continuity in curriculum delivery through structured lesson planning, clear learning objectives, and accurate academic records.
* Create a positive and inclusive classroom culture that encourages exploration, collaboration, innovation, and independent thinking.
* Use assessment results, student feedback, and classroom evidence to improve learning outcomes and guide future instruction.
* Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum planning, cross-disciplinary learning, student progress, and school improvement priorities.
* Participate in parent-teacher conferences and maintain open, professional communication with parents regarding student progress.
* Build strong relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders to support student wellbeing and achievement.
* Contribute to the wider life of the school through technology-related activities, enrichment opportunities, and community initiatives where appropriate.
* Maintain high professional standards in teaching, planning, assessment, communication, safeguarding, and student care.
* Follow GEMS Education policies, school procedures, safeguarding requirements, and professional codes of conduct at all times.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree with a recognised teaching qualification such as PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent.
* Specialism in Computer Science or a closely related technology subject.
* Proven experience teaching High School Computer Science.
* Experience in an American curriculum, IB curriculum, or international school environment is preferred.
* IB or AP experience in Computer Science is an advantage.
* Strong knowledge of inquiry-based learning and hands-on Computer Science education.
* Ability to deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences that motivate and challenge students.
* Confident understanding of curriculum planning, student assessment, differentiated instruction, and academic progress tracking.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with students, parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
* Ability to build positive relationships and contribute to a respectful, inclusive, and high-achieving school community.
* Strong desire to continually improve teaching practice and support student success.
* Commitment to safeguarding, student wellbeing, and professional standards in an international school environment.
* A UK-enhanced DBS or equivalent police clearance is required for appointment.
