Role Context
The Teacher - Physical Education will support student development by planning and delivering lessons that encourage participation, movement skills, personal discipline, and healthy competition. The role combines practical PE teaching with assessment, progress tracking, classroom provision, extracurricular involvement, and professional collaboration. By using data, reflection, and effective lesson design, the teacher will help students make measurable progress and develop positive lifelong habits in physical activity, wellbeing, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver Physical Education lessons that inspire students to participate, improve skills, and achieve the best possible learning outcomes.
* Demonstrate a clear understanding of the curriculum and apply it through age-appropriate, engaging, and structured PE sessions.
* Plan, prepare, and present lessons that meet the needs of the full ability range within the class.
* Organize learning resources, PE equipment, activity spaces, and displays to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
* Motivate students through enthusiastic, imaginative, and inclusive teaching approaches.
* Observe and assess students in line with school assessment requirements and expected progress measures.
* Use Target Tracker and assessment information to record student development, identify learning needs, and guide future planning.
* Analyze assessment data to shape further teaching, provision, interventions, and individual student support.
* Reflect on lessons, classroom provision, student progress, and learning outcomes, then adjust planning and delivery where needed.
* Maintain positive relationships with students and create a respectful environment that encourages confidence, self-control, and independence.
* Apply the school behaviour policy consistently and use appropriate authority when required.
* Act as a positive role model by demonstrating the attitudes, values, behaviour, and professionalism expected from students.
* Support students for whom English is not their first language by using clear communication, visual cues, modelling, and inclusive lesson routines.
* Contribute to extracurricular activities, sports opportunities, school events, and wider enrichment activities.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to support curriculum planning, assessment quality, resources, and whole-school improvement.
* Maintain professional conduct and follow all school procedures related to safeguarding, health and safety, equality, and student wellbeing.
* Support the wider life of the school and contribute positively to the ethos of Noya British School.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in a related subject with PGCE or another recognized teaching qualification.
* Minimum 1-2 years of teaching experience.
* Previous Physical Education teaching experience in a British curriculum or international school setting will be an advantage.
* Clear understanding of curriculum planning, lesson delivery, assessment, and student progress tracking.
* Experience working with students for whom English is not their first language.
* Able to plan inclusive lessons that support varied abilities, confidence levels, and learning needs.
* Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and challenge students.
* Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities, sports events, clubs, or wider school life.
* Positive and solution-focused approach to teaching, collaboration, and daily school responsibilities.
* Respectful toward all members of the school community regardless of position, gender, age, nationality, or background.
* Strong communication skills with students, parents, colleagues, and school leaders.
* High level of professionalism and care for the wellbeing, safety, and development of children.
* Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police clearance.
