Position Overview

Aldar Education is seeking an outstanding Vice Principal to join Al Ghad Charter School in Abu Dhabi for the 2026/27 academic year. The successful candidate will provide strategic and instructional leadership focused on improving teaching quality, staff performance and student outcomes.

Working closely with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team, the Vice Principal will lead key School Development Plan priorities, assessment practices and the elementary curriculum. The role also involves staff coaching, performance management, resource allocation and accountability to parents, ADEK and Aldar Education.

Role Context

The Vice Principal will act for the Principal when required and contribute at strategic and operational levels. Specific responsibilities will be assigned according to the successful candidate’s strengths and the school’s annual development priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Undertake professional duties delegated by the School Principal.
Assume the Principal’s professional responsibilities during periods of absence.
Provide strategic leadership across assigned areas of the school.
Lead key School Development Plan priorities agreed with the Principal.
Support annual reviews of leadership, teaching and learning standards.
Contribute to the school’s self-evaluation and improvement processes.
Develop costed subject and departmental development plans.
Establish short, medium and long-term improvement priorities.
Implement policies that promote high achievement and effective learning.
Monitor progress against development plans and evaluate their impact.
Work with external agencies and stakeholders to inform future action.
Lead the elementary curriculum and related academic improvement initiatives.
Oversee internal and external assessment practices across the school.
Raise the quality of teaching, learning and student achievement.
Set high expectations and evaluate the effectiveness of learning outcomes.
Provide constructive feedback that recognises good practice.
Coach teachers against professional and performance-management objectives.
Develop whole-school teams, phase groups and individual staff members.
Plan and oversee staff meetings and professional-learning activities.
Remain informed about curriculum developments and share updates with staff.
Plan, delegate and evaluate work completed by teams and individuals.
Recruit and select teaching and support employees.
Build a professional learning community that enables staff to succeed.
Implement performance-management processes for assigned employees.
Set staff targets aligned with school-development priorities.
Promote continuing professional development across the school.
Create a fair, respectful and collaborative professional culture.

Ensure curriculum plans reflect the school’s learning strategies.
Guide staff on effective teaching and learning methods.
Coach and mentor employees while modelling excellent practice.
Participate in shared planning and team teaching when required.
Develop systems for recording and analysing individual student progress.
Evaluate teaching quality and set measurable improvement targets.
Engage parents and community stakeholders in school development.
Collaborate with other schools and Aldar Education headquarters.
Work with external agencies to support children’s wellbeing.
Maintain strong safeguarding and child-protection practices.

Ideal Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Education or a Bachelor of Science with a PGCE.
Master’s degree in Education or a related field is desirable.
Minimum six years of successful teaching experience.
Proven record as a very good or outstanding classroom teacher.
Experience teaching successfully across a broad ability range.
Middle-leadership experience is required.
Line management, performance management or pastoral experience is required.
Experience leading whole-school initiatives that improved standards and achievement.
Senior-leadership experience is desirable.
Experience working in more than one international school.
Previous IB teaching experience is advantageous.
Broad understanding of high-quality education and school improvement.
Strong knowledge of curriculum, assessment and instructional leadership.
Ability to coach staff and build collaborative professional teams.
Strong interpersonal, organisational and decision-making capabilities.
Ability to obtain satisfactory references and police clearance.
