What Does a Cloud Engineer Do?

As a Cloud Engineer at IFZA, you will manage the entire lifecycle of cloud services, from design and deployment to monitoring and troubleshooting. Your focus will include supporting Microsoft Azure infrastructure, security collaboration, cloud adoption, and acting as a Level 2 support technician for escalated tickets.

What Are the Key Responsibilities?

- Deploy, monitor, and manage cloud systems within the Microsoft Azure ecosystem
- Configure governance policies, optimize performance, and ensure compliance with security protocols
- Support application modernization and transition to the cloud
- Collaborate with security analysts to ensure data protection and system integrity
- Troubleshoot escalated incidents and document root causes and preventive measures
- Educate teams on cloud best practices and offer training for new initiatives
- Participate in the monitoring of Microsoft Sentinel for enhanced security response
- Suggest improvements in operational processes and implement cloud adoption strategies

What Skills Are Needed for a Cloud Engineer Role in the Gulf?

Education and Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience
- AZ-900 certification is required
- ITIL V3/V4 understanding of Incident, Request, Problem, and Change management

Experience and Tools:
- 3–4 years of hands-on experience in a cloud engineer role
- 4+ years of Microsoft Azure expertise involving deployment, design, and optimization
- Experience using Manage Engine Service Desk Plus and Endpoint Central
- Familiarity with IT ticketing systems and cloud-related troubleshooting

Soft Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Full English proficiency; additional languages are a plus
- Strong time management, prioritization, and technical documentation skills
- Ability to collaborate with IT teams and explain complex issues to non-technical users
- Proactive mindset with a focus on problem-solving and service improvement
