Role Context
Soft services procurement touches every site and project Al Ghurair runs, from cleaning and facilities contracts to project mobilization materials, and this role exists to bring discipline and cost control to that spend. The specialist sits between operations teams who need materials delivered on time and suppliers who need clear, fair terms, using LTPA and tender categories to plan ahead rather than react. Getting supplier selection and contract terms right at this level shapes margins across every project the group takes on.
Key Responsibilities
- Run spend analysis to plan LTPA and tender categories by priority and business need
- Identify and pre-qualify new suppliers, prepare tender documents with technical and commercial evaluation criteria, and arrange e-auctions to select the right vendor
- Supervise the purchasing team\'s day to day work, approving POs, ARFs and transport indents through the portal
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms and delivery schedules with suppliers, reviewing every contract for savings opportunities
- Build material and service delivery plans for new project mobilization and keep operation heads updated on progress and blockers
- Track spend against allocated budgets and flag variances early
- Evaluate supplier and subcontractor performance on cost, quality, competency and consistency, working alongside store and site personnel
- Prepare PO spend, open PO and savings reports for management review
- Liaise with internal and external auditors to verify procurement process accuracy and contract completeness
- Attend industry expos, trade seminars and market research to identify new suppliers, products and cost reduction opportunities
Ideal Profile
This role suits someone with eight solid years in soft services procurement who has run tenders and e-auctions rather than just processed purchase orders, and who is equally comfortable negotiating with suppliers and presenting savings reports to senior operations leadership. A background that includes new project mobilization, not just steady state category management, will translate well here since the group regularly stands up new sites and contracts. Strong interpersonal skills matter as much as analytical ones, given how much of the role depends on supplier trust and internal stakeholder alignment.
