What Does a Payment Officer Do in the Construction Sector?
A Payment Officer is responsible for handling all aspects of financial coordination related to subcontractor and supplier payments. This includes maintaining documentation, tracking certifications, ensuring compliance with contract terms, and preventing duplicate payments.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers on invoice and payment submissions
- Follow up with the project team to collect necessary supporting documents for payment certification
- Liaise with the QS team to obtain approvals and certifications
- Maintain accurate payment logs tracking submission dates, certifications, and approvals
- Regularly report payment status to the Payment Control Manager or Commercial Manager
- Monitor for duplicate payments and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve any issues
