Role Context

The Project Planning Engineer supports the successful delivery of construction projects by managing schedules, analyzing site progress, and identifying risks before they affect deadlines. This role plays an important part in maintaining project efficiency, supporting tender preparation, and improving execution through accurate planning and reporting.

Key Responsibilities

* Analyze tender documents and prepare detailed tender programmes
* Develop baseline and contract programmes including procurement and engineering activities
* Prepare resource-loaded schedules using Primavera planning software
* Generate procurement schedules and coordinate planning updates with relevant departments
* Create three-week and three-month look-ahead schedules before project commencement
* Produce plant lists and labour histograms during pre-contract and post-contract stages
* Support evaluation of construction methods and project execution techniques
* Assist estimation teams in preparing preliminaries and project planning inputs
* Prepare logistics plans and method statements with planning and tendering teams
* Identify complex construction risks and support development of risk and opportunity registers
* Monitor project progress and prepare weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly reports
* Assist with delay mitigation plans and time impact analysis when scope changes occur

Ideal Profile

* Degree in Engineering preferred, preferably Licensed Engineer
* Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in project planning or technical construction roles
* Strong understanding of building construction and infrastructure project planning
* Proficient in Primavera P6 and commercial project scheduling environments
* Good knowledge of local construction legislation and compliance requirements
* Strong analytical skills with attention to project details and deadlines
* Ability to work with multiple teams and manage changing project priorities
* Good reporting and coordination skills in fast-paced project environments
