The successful candidate will identify incorrect terminology, unsupported claims, flawed experimental logic, unit inconsistencies, unsafe laboratory recommendations, inaccurate biological mechanisms, and incomplete explanations. The role also includes contributor coaching, onboarding, calibration, documentation management, and continuous improvement of scalable biology review workflows.
Key Responsibilities
* Review biology AI training items against detailed project rubrics and scientific quality standards.
* Evaluate scientific accuracy, biological reasoning, terminology, experimental logic, clarity, formatting, and instruction compliance.
* Assess content involving cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, ecology, evolution, physiology, and biochemistry.
* Review biological pathways, cellular processes, molecular interactions, inheritance patterns, and organism-level explanations.
* Evaluate experimental designs for suitable controls, variables, sampling methods, replication, and interpretation.
* Check calculations, concentrations, ratios, units, conversions, measurements, and scientific notation.
* Identify incorrect assumptions, unsupported claims, flawed causal reasoning, and misleading biological conclusions.
* Review laboratory methods, protocols, diagrams, data tables, graphs, and research summaries.
* Assess whether biological terminology, taxonomic names, molecular labels, and scientific conventions are used accurately.
* Flag unsafe recommendations involving biological samples, pathogens, chemicals, laboratory equipment, or environmental release.
* Evaluate whether appropriate biosafety, contamination control, waste disposal, and personal protective measures are considered.
* Distinguish established scientific findings from hypotheses, emerging evidence, and speculation.
* Review AI-generated explanations for completeness, logical sequence, and educational clarity.
* Spot-check work completed by researchers, trainers, educators, annotators, reviewers, and QA contributors.
* Provide precise written feedback explaining each scientific issue and the correction required.
* Escalate recurring, critical, biosafety-related, or scientifically misleading quality concerns.
* Communicate guideline updates, workflow changes, and biology-specific review expectations through Discord.
* Respond to contributor questions involving biological mechanisms, terminology, experiments, units, safety, and rubric interpretation.
* Contact inactive trainers and QAs, encourage participation, document follow-ups, and report availability concerns.
* Create and maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, quality notes, examples, honeypots, calibration tasks, and onboarding materials.
* Conduct remote onboarding and training sessions for biology trainers and reviewers.
* Ensure contributors apply evolving biology quality standards consistently.
* Analyze recurring quality gaps and recommend practical improvements to scientific review workflows.
* Maintain accurate records of evaluations, contributor feedback, performance patterns, and corrective actions.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor\'s, Master\'s, or PhD degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Microbiology, Ecology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, or a closely related discipline.
* Minimum 3 years of professional experience in biology research, laboratory work, teaching, scientific writing, technical review, quality control, or a related field.
* Strong English communication skills for interpreting detailed guidelines and delivering clear scientific feedback.
* Thorough understanding of cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, physiology, ecology, evolution, and experimental methods.
* Ability to identify inaccurate biological mechanisms, flawed experimental reasoning, unsupported claims, and incomplete explanations.
* Familiarity with laboratory documentation, microscopy, molecular techniques, culture methods, biological assays, or scientific literature review is preferred.
* Strong understanding of controls, variables, replication, sampling, bias, and research limitations.
* Knowledge of biosafety, contamination prevention, responsible sample handling, and laboratory risk controls.
* Ability to review biological calculations, units, measurements, graphs, and data interpretations accurately.
* Experience preparing or reviewing laboratory reports, research papers, protocols, educational materials, or scientific assessments.
* Strong attention to terminology, experimental detail, biological plausibility, and evidence quality.
* Experience leading or supporting researchers, educators, technical writers, annotators, reviewers, or QA teams is strongly preferred.
* Ability to apply detailed rubrics consistently across high-volume scientific review assignments.
* Confidence using Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.
