BI Development Manager - Data Analytics

Role Context

The BI Development Manager - Data Analytics will provide technical and delivery leadership for business intelligence solutions supporting Majid Al Futtaim Retail operations. The position combines BI architecture, advanced analytics, Power BI governance, data security, automation, and business engagement. By improving the reliability, scalability, and accessibility of enterprise reporting, the role enables business teams to make faster decisions based on trusted data and consistent performance measures.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the design, execution, and delivery of enterprise Business Intelligence projects in line with BI standards and data governance requirements.
* Work with business functions to identify operational and commercial challenges that can be addressed through analytics, reporting, and automation.
* Translate business requirements into scalable BI solutions, dashboards, datasets, analytical models, and measurable performance indicators.
* Supervise the design, development, maintenance, and real-time updating of Power BI workspaces, applications, datasets, dataflows, dashboards, and reports.
* Manage CI-CD processes for BI assets and ensure deployments remain consistent with governance and quality standards.
* Oversee the definition and monitoring of key performance indicators used across business functions.
* Lead development and maintenance of the Business Intelligence glossary covering KPIs, measures, variables, tables, views, dimensions, and naming conventions.
* Design and govern Row-Level Security, Page-Level Security, and Object-Level Security frameworks across BI environments.
* Coordinate closely with Data Engineering and Data Architecture teams to maintain automated and controlled data execution flows.
* Partner with Cloud Architecture to establish a unified XMLA read-write framework supported by appropriate policies, procedures, and governance controls.
* Apply advanced SQL, DAX, and M techniques to transform, model, analyse, and extract value from large datasets.
* Conduct regular data quality checks and ensure agreed minimum quality thresholds are maintained.
* Identify opportunities to automate manual reporting and analytical processes.
* Optimize data delivery pipelines and redesign BI infrastructure where required to improve performance and scalability.
* Support business users with reliable analytical tools that improve visibility into performance, behaviour, trends, and emerging opportunities.
* Maintain technical documentation and ensure BI development practices remain consistent across the enterprise environment.

Ideal Profile

* Bachelor\'s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another relevant technical discipline.
* 7+ years of experience in a senior Business Intelligence development role within an international or enterprise environment.
* Strong record of designing and building complex BI platforms, reporting solutions, dashboards, and analytical tools.
* 2+ years of experience in retail or FMCG is preferred.
* Advanced proficiency in SQL and strong capability with statistical programming languages such as Python or R.
* Extensive experience with Power BI and other visualization platforms such as Tableau.
* Strong understanding of DAX, M, data modelling, data transformation, and enterprise reporting architecture.
* Practical experience managing Power BI workspaces, datasets, applications, dataflows, and access controls.
* Knowledge of Row-Level Security, Page-Level Security, Object-Level Security, and XMLA functionality.
* Experience with CI-CD processes, automation, data governance, and quality assurance for BI environments.
* Good understanding of statistical and machine learning techniques including Logistic Regression, Linear Regression, Clustering, Decision Trees, Random Forest, SVM, and KNN.
* Able to communicate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders and convert analytical requirements into usable solutions.
* Strong problem-solving capability with a focus on scalability, automation, performance, and data reliability.
