Job Overview
As a Category Analyst, you will work closely with the DGM – Merchandising and Category Managers to monitor sales targets, track event performance, and reconcile sales and income data. You will also manage the launch and performance tracking of new initiatives, promotions, and staff incentives, while ensuring timely delivery of weekly and monthly financial and operational reports.
Key Responsibilities
* Support category planning by tracking KPIs, analyzing sales, and identifying opportunities for improvement
* Monitor category-wise top and bottom-line performance and deliver actionable insights to management
* Coordinate and report sales and income for promotional events and category campaigns
* Launch, monitor, and reconcile sales staff incentive programs in coordination with finance
* Develop and present daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports in alignment with merchandising goals
* Conduct deep data mining across product, pricing, sales, and customer metrics to support decision-making
* Reconcile category-level income and sales with finance, ensuring accuracy and timely closure of MIS
* Collaborate with IT, marketing, and merchandising teams to improve reporting systems and dashboards
* Support the rollout of new initiatives and monitor implementation through structured performance reports
* Provide performance diagnostic reports to senior stakeholders for ongoing strategic alignment
Job Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field
* Minimum 3–5 years of experience in retail category management, merchandising analytics, or sales planning
* Expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, dashboards, and advanced formulas
* Experience with ERP systems, preferably SAP, for sales and financial reconciliation
* Strong analytical and presentation skills with the ability to interpret large data sets
* Strong coordination skills and ability to work cross-functionally with merchandising, finance, and IT
* Detail-oriented with a structured approach to reporting and timeline management
