Position Overview
Al-Futtaim is hiring a Financial Control Manager in Dubai, UAE to lead central retail controlling activities within the Retail Head Office. The role is responsible for strengthening financial governance, maintaining effective controls, managing complex accounting and reporting requirements, and mitigating financial risk across multiple retail brands. The position covers IFRS compliance, balance sheet governance, intercompany transactions, taxation, audit coordination, retail finance processes, and finance automation initiatives.

Overview of the Role
The Financial Control Manager will lead key Central Retail Controlling activities while
ensuring compliance with organizational policies, accounting requirements, and established financial controls.
Working across multiple retail brands and corporate functions, the role will strengthen checks and balances around reporting, accounting, taxation, intercompany activity, revenue recognition, lease accounting, and other high-risk financial areas. The position also contributes to process standardization and the adoption of automation and AI within finance.
Financial Control and Reporting
* Ensure compliance across transfer pricing transactions and multiple intercompany transactions.
* Lead balance sheet and high-risk account reviews in conjunction with established finance controls.
* Maintain weekly and monthly reporting in line with organizational requirements.
* Strengthen month-end closing reviews and manage closing timelines with relevant stakeholders.
* Support balance sheet reviews and the cleanup of active items relating to closed businesses.
* Conduct proactive reviews for potential misstatements and coordinate timely corrective actions.
* Maintain appropriate financial checks and controls to mitigate identified risks.
Retail Controlling
Lead, monitor, and establish service level agreements across retail brands for key finance processes, including cost allocations, loyalty programme management, revenue recognition, budget versus actual reviews, true-ups, accruals, and breakage management.
Monitor financially significant areas including store insurance, gift vouchers and promotions, the Blue Loyalty Program, cost allocations, and intercompany transactions.
IFRS and Accounting Compliance
* Ensure appropriate implementation and ongoing compliance with IFRS 16 requirements for lease accounting.
* Monitor accounting relating to property, plant, and equipment.
* Track, update, and monitor reinstatement provisions.
* Support timely financial reporting and analysis where required.
* Maintain strong understanding and application of IFRS 15 for revenue recognition.
* Identify accounting and financial issues and coordinate appropriate solutions.
Tax Compliance
Ensure compliance with corporate income tax requirements, including required preparation, documentation, and filings.
Support tax planning activities by identifying appropriate opportunities for tax optimization and liability management while maintaining compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations.
Audit and Stakeholder Management
* Lead discussions with internal and external auditors.
* Ensure information provided during audits is accurate and aligned with IFRS and organizational policy requirements.
* Prepare and lead monthly and ad hoc presentations for cross-functional stakeholders.
* Collaborate with finance and business teams to resolve accounting and financial control matters.
* Work across functions including FSSC, O2C, Group Tax, Group Finance, and P and C.
* Contribute to standardization and improvement of accounting processes across relevant teams.
Finance Automation and AI
Initiate, establish, and support AI and digital finance initiatives designed to improve efficiency and automation within the team.
Identify current and future opportunities where Power BI, Power Automate, AI tools, RPA, or other digital finance solutions can improve financial processes and controls.
Qualifications and Experience
* Bachelor\'s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline.
* Professional qualification such as CA, ACCA, CPA, or CIMA is highly preferred.
* 6-8 years of progressive experience in Financial Control, Financial Reporting, Audit, or Retail Finance within a large and complex organization.
* Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP.
* Exposure to SAP BW, BPC, or SAC.
* Strong knowledge of IFRS standards.
* Practical knowledge of IFRS 15 Revenue Recognition.
* Strong understanding of IFRS 16 Lease Accounting.
* Knowledge of fixed asset accounting.
* Experience with financial controls, balance sheet reviews, and reporting.
