Role Context
This position plays a key role in reducing legal risk and strengthening business decision-making across retail operations. The selected professional will provide practical legal advice, improve contract discipline, and ensure legal governance standards are maintained across all major commercial and operational functions.
Key Responsibilities
* Review, draft, negotiate, and amend commercial agreements including leases, supply contracts, service agreements, and NDAs
* Ensure legal sufficiency, operational clarity, and alignment with internal legal standards across all contracts
* Manage execution readiness by ensuring approvals, workflows, authority thresholds, and governance requirements are completed before signature
* Conduct detailed legal research on laws, rulings, and regulations to identify risks and protect business operations
* Support legal strategy preparation for negotiations, disputes, and case presentations
* Research case outcomes and provide structured legal opinions based on legal precedent and factual analysis
* Analyze internal policies for legal correctness and operational practicality
* Deliver commercially aligned legal advice related to contracts, policies, and business decisions
* Assist in legal and compliance training programs for internal teams and stakeholders
* Support legal operations projects including automation, standardization, workflow optimization, and governance frameworks
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s Degree in Law with common law qualification strongly preferred
* Strong professional experience in commercial law, corporate legal advisory, or in-house legal counsel roles
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to draft in clear plain language
* Strong negotiation skills balancing legal protection with commercial practicality
* Strong analytical thinking with ability to prioritize high-risk and low-risk legal matters effectively
* Experience supporting business units across procurement, supply chain, marketing, and corporate operations is preferred
