Role Context
The Civil Inspector - Infrastructure will provide continuous site surveillance across assigned construction activities. The position supports project quality by
identifying non-compliant work, confirming inspection and testing results, monitoring subcontractor performance, and maintaining accurate records for engineering and project management teams.
The inspector will work closely with contractors, consultants, surveyors, laboratory personnel, quality teams, and safety representatives to ensure infrastructure works are completed safely, correctly, and in accordance with approved project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Inspect civil, structural, road, utility, and infrastructure works throughout each construction stage.
* Confirm that completed work complies with approved drawings, method statements, specifications, codes, and contractual requirements.
* Witness soil compaction, moisture content, aggregate grading, concrete slump, air entrainment, concrete compression, and coring tests.
* Review survey controls, lines, grades, elevations, dimensions, and alignment before approving construction activities.
* Monitor underground piping installation to verify bedding, joint integrity, tightness, depth, alignment, and gradient.
* Inspect piling works and confirm pile position, installation method, depth, bearing capacity, and associated records.
* Validate piping systems through drawing checks, pressure testing, hydraulic testing, and inspection documentation.
* Examine structural connections, bolt torque records, reinforcement placement, formwork, concrete pouring, and curing procedures.
* Monitor painting and insulation work to verify surface preparation, coating thickness, coverage, and continuity.
* Inspect electrical installations associated with infrastructure works for grounding, circuit integrity, and regulatory compliance.
* Verify equipment alignment, leveling, balancing, and installation before testing or commissioning.
* Observe construction labor and subcontractor activities to ensure professional workmanship and approved procedures.
* Record inspection findings, test results, deficiencies, corrective actions, and work acceptance status.
* Issue inspection observations or non-conformance reports when work does not meet project requirements.
* Participate in the preparation and improvement of quality control procedures, inspection reports, and checklists.
* Support the development of job safety practices and contribute to site safety reporting.
* Coordinate inspection priorities with engineers, contractors, and project supervision teams.
* Monitor corrective work and confirm that identified defects are properly resolved before final acceptance.
* Administer or witness welder qualification tests when required for the assigned scope.
* Maintain organized inspection files, photographs, material approvals, test certificates, and site records.
Ideal Profile
* Diploma of at least three years or a bachelor\'s degree in Civil Engineering.
* Minimum 7 years of relevant construction inspection or supervision experience.
* Practical background in roads, highways, pump stations, utilities, and infrastructure projects.
* At least 3 years of relevant UAE project experience is preferred.
* Strong ability to read and interpret civil drawings, structural details, specifications, and construction documents.
* Sound knowledge of concrete, earthworks, utilities, drainage, piping, piling, and road construction activities.
* Familiarity with inspection requests, material approvals, method statements, test plans, and non-conformance procedures.
* Ability to identify workmanship defects and communicate corrective requirements professionally.
