Role Context
The Regional Sales and Range Leader will act as a key link between stores, central retail management, logistics, marketing, sales teams, and the IKEA distributor. The role helps ensure the right products are selected, priced, available, communicated, and supported through the commercial calendar. By guiding shopkeepers, monitoring market changes, and improving range execution, the position contributes to stronger sales, healthier margins, better customer choice, and long-term business growth.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to the development and execution of IKEA sales and range action plans based on store and country business priorities.
* Stay in regular contact with store shopkeepers to provide commercial support, range guidance, and performance follow-up.
* Select products for marketing activities and ensure product availability in close coordination with the logistics team.
* Prepare buying guides for complex product series to support store teams and improve customer understanding.
* Coordinate range-related matters between stores, central retail management, and the IKEA distributor.
* Set prices for IKEA range products in cooperation with store sales managers and in line with IKEA concept documentation.
* Prepare sales budgets for assigned IKEA range areas and monitor performance against targets.
* Maintain strong knowledge of the local home furnishing market, customer behavior, competitors, and product trends.
* Promote suitable alternative products when best-selling products are unavailable and ensure clear communication to stores.
* Ensure IKEA systems, methods, and concept documentation are correctly implemented across stores.
* Drive the annual sales and range plan for assigned business areas while supporting shopkeepers as a matrix manager.
* Source relevant local ranges periodically and manage local supplier coordination in line with Iway code of conduct.
* Support sales methods that help achieve IKEA positioning objectives and maximize long-term profitability.
* Complete range administration in the sales IT system for assigned business area products.
* Coordinate with PR and communication teams to ensure supplier and country-of-origin requirements are registered correctly.
* Monitor range availability and take action to achieve agreed stock and sales goals.
* Coordinate with catalogue production and marketing teams on pricing inputs, commercial priorities, and product placement.
* Support shopkeepers with competitor analysis and practical actions to improve store performance.
* Coach, support, and develop sales teams so co-workers understand the IKEA concept and their role in business results.
* Work closely with sales management to identify future shopkeeper talent and potential successors.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate should have strong retail experience, commercial planning ability, and practical understanding of IKEA store operations or home furnishing retail. The role requires someone who can analyze sales data, guide store teams, manage range priorities, and make customer-focused decisions that improve both sales and gross margin.
* University degree is required.
* Minimum 5+ years of retail experience.
* Experience as an IKEA shopkeeper across one or more business areas is preferred.
* Strong understanding of sales planning, range management, pricing, product availability, and gross margin calculations.
* Genuine interest in home furnishings, customer behavior, and local retail market trends.
* Strong analytical, mathematical, and tactical planning skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Computer literacy with the ability to work confidently with sales and range systems.
