Key Responsibilities
* Translate technical, engineering, construction, proposal, and project-related documents from Arabic to English and English to Arabic.
* Proofread and edit complex written materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, grammar quality, terminology consistency, and professional presentation.
* Perform copy editing, rewriting, revising, formatting checks, stylesheet verification, proofreading, and document production support.
* Review assigned documents for correct paragraph headings, numbering, references, tables, figures, captions, and bibliographic style requirements.
* Ensure consistency in technical abbreviations, acronyms, figure callouts, table callouts, captions, and standard document text.
* Compile and verify tables of contents, lists of figures, lists of tables, references, and printer-ready document layouts.
* Mark copy clearly for word processors and graphic designers, including instructions for spacing, indentation, corrections, and formatting updates.
* Conduct research to verify technical terms, acronyms, engineering terminology, and project-specific language.
* Rewrite or develop new sections of text when required, subject to review and approval by the requestor.
* Check that text references are consistent and aligned with client requirements, technical standards, and project expectations.
* Coordinate document schedules and production requirements with lead technical writers, editors, authors, requestors, and technical publication resources.
* Interface with project teams, client-facing personnel, and technical staff to clarify document requirements and support timely delivery.
* Review reproduced materials after production to confirm alignment with the printer’s dummy and approved document format.
* Work independently and as part of a functional team to complete translation, editing, and publishing assignments within deadlines.
* Perform other translation, editing, proofreading, and technical documentation duties as required.
Ideal Profile
The ideal candidate is an Arabic-speaking translator with strong bilingual communication skills, construction field experience, and proven ability to edit technical engineering documents from rough draft to final publication. This role requires accuracy, discipline, research ability, and confidence working with technical writers, engineers, designers, and project teams.
* Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Translation, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Must be an Arabic speaker.
* Ability to translate professionally from Arabic to English and English to Arabic.
* Minimum 5 years of related work experience.
* At least 3 years of experience proofreading and editing technical engineering publications, specifications, and proposals from rough draft to print-ready stage.
* Experience in the construction field is required.
* Strong written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English.
* Good organizational, research, interpersonal, and coordination skills.
* Strong proofreading ability with close attention to grammar, formatting, terminology, and document consistency.
* Demonstrated keyboard proficiency and good working knowledge of MS Windows and related software.
* Experience using Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and Adobe InDesign.
* Ability to work independently, meet scheduled deadlines, and support multiple document production tasks.
* Ability to interact effectively with technical teams, project personnel, writers, editors, and document production staff.
