Role Context
The Assistant Quantity Surveyor will
Key Responsibilities
* Support the administration of construction contracts, including FIDIC, EPC, and Design-Build contract arrangements, in line with company procedures and project requirements.
* Assist with preparing, reviewing, tracking, and organizing contract correspondence, payment applications, certificates, variations, change orders, RFIs, and contractual notices.
* Maintain contract registers, commercial logs, payment trackers, variation registers, and document control records for contractual and commercial matters.
* Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements from engineering drawings, BIM models, specifications, and project documentation.
* Support measurement work for rail systems, stations, depots, civil works, utilities, roads, and related transport infrastructure elements.
* Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities, pricing schedules, quantity summaries, interim valuations, and final account documentation.
* Contribute to project cost reports, forecasts, cash flow projections, budget updates, and commercial performance summaries.
* Monitor committed costs, anticipated final costs, budget movements, and cost data needed for benchmarking and reporting.
* Help identify, record, and value contract variations, scope changes, and commercial adjustments.
* Support claims preparation by maintaining technical and commercial records linked to cost impacts, schedule impacts, correspondence, and supporting evidence.
* Assist in preparing tender documentation, including Bills of Quantities, pricing schedules, commercial conditions, and related tender support material.
* Support tender evaluations, subcontract administration, contractor payment reviews, and contractor performance monitoring.
* Coordinate with engineering, planning, construction, procurement, finance, and document control teams to collect information needed for accurate commercial reporting.
* Help ensure commercial activities comply with company procedures, contractual obligations, Saudi regulations, and project quality requirements.
* Participate in commercial meetings, prepare meeting notes, track assigned actions, and follow up with relevant project team members.
* Maintain organized records to support audits, payment verification, change management, claims review, and commercial closeout.
* Carry out other quantity surveying, cost management, and contract administration duties as assigned by the commercial team.
Ideal Profile
* Saudi National candidate.
* Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
* 0-3 years of experience in quantity surveying, commercial management, cost management, contract administration, or infrastructure project support.
* Basic understanding of quantity surveying principles, measurement methods, cost control, contract administration, and construction commercial practices.
* Strong numerical ability with good analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
* Able to read engineering drawings, specifications, quantity data, and basic construction documentation.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Able to manage several tasks, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and follow project procedures.
* Comfortable working within multidisciplinary teams involving engineering, planning, construction, procurement, finance, and commercial specialists.
* High level of integrity, professionalism, accuracy, and commitment to quality.
* Internship or project exposure in rail, metro, light rail, highways, infrastructure, or mobility projects is preferred.
* Familiarity with FIDIC or other standard construction contract forms is an advantage.
* Basic knowledge of cost estimating, quantity measurement standards, Bills of Quantities, procurement processes, and subcontract administration is desirable.
* Exposure to BIM-based quantity take-off tools or commercial cost management systems would be beneficial.
* Interest in commercial reporting, cost control, change management, and long-term professional development in quantity surveying.
