Position Overview
The Depot Operations Engineer will oversee and support daily bus depot operations, including fuel supply, maintenance planning, health and safety compliance, and asset utilization. The role ensures buses are operationally ready, depot processes are efficient, and all activities align with RTA’s engineering, safety, and performance standards.

What You’ll Do
* Supervise and monitor fuel supply, consumption, and storage to align with approved budgets and strategic supplier agreements.
* Implement and monitor depot self-assessment programs and KPIs, closing departmental recommendations.
* Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance plans to ensure effective bus availability.
* Identify mechanical issues affecting bus efficiency and coordinate improvements with the Maintenance and Services Department.
* Develop, review, and enforce depot health and safety standards in line with RTA policy.
* Contribute to depot budget preparation and ensure financial compliance.
* Represent the depot in bus engineering matters including vehicle specifications and operational requirements.
* Conduct technical studies and benchmarks to improve operational efficiency and reduce troubleshooting.
* Prepare progress reports, track project plans, and recommend corrective measures.
* Remain available 24/7 for emergencies and conduct site visits when required.
* Support depot performance monitoring and provide technical and engineering input to management.
* Assist in setting goals and performance plans for supervisors and officers.
* Ensure bus availability, readiness, and functionality of all mechanical and electronic systems according to daily schedules.
Ideal Profile
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering from a recognized university.
* Solid background in transportation engineering, depot operations, or maintenance planning.
* Knowledge of health and safety policies, KPIs, and operational process improvement.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
* Ability to manage budgets and coordinate with multiple departments.
* Excellent reporting, communication, and team collaboration capabilities.
