If you are a Power Electronics Technician looking for an opportunity to grow, Copeland has an exciting opportunity for you! Based in our Sidney, OH location, you will execute performance and reliability test plans to support the product development projects of variable speed drives.
AS A POWER ELECTRONICS TECHNICIAN, YOU WILL:
Perform soldering or repair work on PCB with surface mount and through-hole components.
Execute performance and reliability test plan to support drive development projects, including but not limited to ordering parts, setting up tests, performing tests, and pre/post-test analysis. These tests may include bench testing and testing with compressors, hardware debugging, and software testing.
Support in-house testing for customer application-related testing/issues.
Perform initial failure analysis on variable frequency drives.
Program and test the variable frequency drives.
Analyze workmanship and manufacturing quality of variable frequency drives.
Work with other lab personnel on system testing/troubleshooting.
Work with engineers to duplicate customer failures in-house, diagnose the failures, and provide reports.
Support customer sample needs.
Work with engineers to create engineering wiring drawings for tools or kits for internal usage or customer usage
Maintain lab equipment and calibration.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Associate degree in electrical/electronic plus 3 years of experience working with electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience
Printed Circuit Board (PCB) experience
Ability to handle multi-tasking environments and be able to work with groups of different domains of knowledge.
Good understanding of working principles of electronic components.
Comfortable working with high voltages and knowledge of data acquisition systems.
Working knowledge of electronics lab equipment such as scope, power supply, and power meter.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:
Associate degree in electrical/electronic or equivalent education plus 5-7 years of hands-on industrial experience in the electronics field.
Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating highly effective working relationships within the organization.
Strong problem-solving skills, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work on multiple testing projects at the same time.
Experience with residential or commercial air conditioning systems.
Experience with equipment calibration.
