What Does a Head of Islamic Studies Do?
As Head of Islamic Studies (Primary), you will lead the Islamic curriculum and team, fostering a culture of excellence, Islamic values, and academic rigor. This role requires a strong leader with subject expertise and the ability to build student enthusiasm and understanding of Islamic culture, history, and teachings.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Lead and manage the Islamic Studies department across the primary phase
- Deliver and oversee engaging lessons that reflect the values and content of the UAE Islamic Studies curriculum
- Inspire students with an enthusiasm for Islamic values, culture, and history
- Develop departmental plans and curriculum enrichment aligned with school objectives
- Guide and support teachers to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning
- Monitor assessment and progress data to drive student achievement
- Create a collaborative and supportive teaching culture within the department
- Organize and lead events and initiatives promoting Islamic awareness and community involvement
- Liaise with school leadership and parents regarding student progress and development
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and the Ministry of Education\'s Islamic curriculum requirements
- Participate in whole-school planning, events, and leadership initiatives
What Skills Are Needed for a Head of Islamic Studies in Dubai?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies or related field
- B.Ed or equivalent teaching qualification is preferred
Experience:
- Experience leading an Islamic Studies department or extensive experience as Assistant Head of Department
- Strong understanding of the UAE Islamic Studies curriculum and local cultural values
Skills:
- Fluency in English (written and spoken); Arabic is a plus
- Proven ability to motivate and engage students of all levels
- Strong classroom management and curriculum planning skills
- Passion for Islamic education and student development
- Excellent interpersonal, team leadership, and mentoring skills
- Strategic thinker with a hands-on and collaborative leadership style
