NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly qualified Post-Doctoral Associate to join the Marine Biology Lab under the supervision of Professor John Burt. This role focuses on researching acclimatory and adaptive mechanisms in coral reef fishes to survive extreme environmental conditions in the Arabian Gulf, using the Gulf of Oman as a comparative environment. The position involves both laboratory and field-based ecophysiological studies, with a focus on stressors such as temperature fluctuations, hypoxia, hyper salinity, and turbidity.

- Analyze physiological, molecular, and ecological datasets to uncover survival strategies of coral reef fishes
- Utilize molecular biology, physiology, and -omics approaches in experimental design
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams to integrate findings into broader ecological and conservation frameworks
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific conferences
- Train and mentor students in ecophysiology techniques and research methodologies
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure adherence to safety and ethical research guidelines

Job Requirements
- PhD in Marine Biology, Physiology, Molecular Ecology, or a related field
- Advanced SCUBA certification with documented experience in research-based diving
- Strong background in experimental design, data analysis, and physiological dataset processing
- Experience working with non-traditional animal models in ecophysiology
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques and -omics research
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven track record of first-author publications relevant to fish ecophysiology
