New York University Abu Dhabi is seeking a highly qualified Post-Doctoral Associate in the Mathematics Department, Division of Science. The successful candidate will collaborate with Dr. Weiren Zhao on advanced research topics in mathematical analysis and applied mathematics. The role focuses on theoretical and computational studies in stability and instability phenomena in fluid dynamics, geophysical flows, plasma physics, and spectral theory for non-self-adjoint operators.

- Analyze stability/instability in geophysical fluids and plasma physics.
- Apply spectral theory to study non-self-adjoint operators in mathematical physics.
- Develop and refine mathematical models relevant to research areas.
- Publish findings in high-impact journals and present at academic conferences.
- Participate in interdisciplinary collaborations with faculty and researchers.
- Assist in mentoring graduate and undergraduate students involved in related projects.
Job Requirements
- PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
- Expertise in analysis, partial differential equations (PDEs), and mathematical modeling.
- Proficiency in mathematical software such as MATLAB, Mathematica, or Python.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with computational methods in fluid dynamics and spectral theory.
- Research background in geophysical or plasma physics applications.
- Familiarity with numerical analysis and high-performance computing.
