NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support the Laboratory for Computer-Human Intelligence within the Division of Engineering. This role focuses on advancing machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data science applications that analyze human signals such as text, audio, and physiological data. The ideal candidate will be passionate about AI research, data-driven problem-solving, and developing impactful computational models.

Responsibilities
- Develop data processing engines to manage, clean, and organize diverse datasets from sensors, web applications, and databases.
- Apply machine learning algorithms to extract meaningful patterns from multimodal signals, including text, audio, images, and physiological data.
- Conduct research on AI-driven modeling techniques, improving algorithmic performance and predictive capabilities.
- Design and implement advanced data visualization tools to communicate research findings effectively.
- Document research through structured code repositories, scientific reports, and publications in top-tier conferences and journals.
- Collaborate with research teams to solve technical challenges, develop novel methodologies, and enhance AI applications.
- Ensure reproducibility and accessibility of research outcomes through proper documentation and structured workflows.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in AI/ML research, including data processing, neural networks, and deep learning.
- Proficiency in Python, SQL, Bash, TensorFlow/PyTorch, and web technologies such as HTML and JavaScript.
- Strong background in signal processing, data analytics, and algorithm development.
- Prior experience authoring peer-reviewed research papers is an advantage.
- Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
