The Marine Microbiomics Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi, under the supervision of Prof. Shady Amin, is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to explore the role of microbiomes in host health, physiology, adaptation, and evolution. The lab conducts research across diverse ecosystems and organisms, applying microbiome science to coral adaptation, drug metabolism, ocean biogeochemistry, harmful algal blooms, and climate change impact assessment.

- Work on bioinformatics data processing and computational modeling.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and assist in publishing research findings.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and lab-wide initiatives.

Job Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biological Sciences, Environmental/Marine Sciences, Chemistry, or a related field.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
- Strong analytical and research skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a diverse team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in biological lab work, such as microbial culturing and molecular techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis.
- Background in marine fieldwork, including sample collection and processing.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics, statistical modeling, and environmental data interpretation.
