Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and oversee a proactive risk management program to mitigate hospital-wide risks
- Ensure effective mechanisms are in place for identifying, reporting, and managing patient safety incidents and near misses
- Conduct incident investigations, analyze risk trends, and implement corrective action plans
- Provide leadership in incident reporting, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory deadlines
- Collaborate with legal counsel in claims handling and defense preparation, ensuring accurate and timely reporting
- Oversee the collection, analysis, and presentation of quantitative and qualitative risk data related to incidents, complaints, and claims
- Ensure compliance with local healthcare regulations regarding patient care, incident reporting, and litigation procedures
- Participate in insurance coverage reviews and risk financing activities
- Facilitate risk reduction initiatives using Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Hazard Vulnerability Analysis (HVA)
- Implement and maintain an annual clinical audit program, ensuring findings are addressed in alignment with hospital policies
- Monitor patient complaints and compliments, analyze trends, and develop improvement strategies to enhance patient experience
- Lead educational training sessions on risk management for medical staff and employees
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare or a related clinical field (valid professional license preferred)
- Master’s degree in Risk Management or a related healthcare discipline
- Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting, preferably in an international environment
- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare risk management, with proven expertise in process analysis and quality improvement
- Strong knowledge of healthcare accreditation standards, regulatory compliance, and policy development
- Demonstrated ability to manage large-scale projects and lead cross-departmental initiatives
- Excellent problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and ability to influence change at an organizational level
- Strong engagement skills to collaborate effectively with clinicians, leadership, and regulatory bodies
