3.2 Ensures the implementation and evaluation of standards for high quality patient care
3.3 Participates in the development and implementation of unit goals, objectives, protocols, standards, policies and
procedures that are consistent with those of the nursing service and the hospital
3.4 Demonstrates deep knowledge in the care of patients and the type of procedures performed in his/ her
designated area
3.5 Directly supervises and evaluates performance of all nursing staff assigned to the ward, providing counseling
and disciplinary actions if it is needed.
3.6 Provides orientation to the newly joined staff nurses and conducts assessment at the completion of 15 days, 6
months and 1 year.
3.7 Coordinates with the Nursing Administrator in conducting annual competency and skill based competency
checks for all the staff nurses
3.8 Prepares daily / monthly staff allocation of his/her designated area and ensures competency based
nurse/patient allocation is followed at all times
3.9 Participates in patient placement, decisions for optimal utilization of beds based on priority patient needs
3.10 Communicates the daily condition of the patients as well as any event occurring in his/her designated area to
the Nursing Supervisor
3.11 Ensures appropriate review of clinical records to determine clinical indicators of his/her designated area
3.12 Responsible for checking of crash carts and emergency equipment's as per hospital policy
3.13 Responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory of medications including high alert medications
and narcotics as per hospital policy
3.14 Responsible for appropriate storage and maintaining inventory of Hazmat items including the MSDS as per
hospital policy
3.15 Participates as a member of Code Blue Team of the hospital
3.16 Participates as a member of the code black team as per hospital policy
3.17 Ensures that all relevant paperwork and supporting documentation are completed to the highest standards
3.18 Encourages an economical approach to the utilization of equipment's and supplies while maintaining an
appropriate ward stock.
3.19 Coordinates with the Nursing Administrator to obtain emergency medications, equipment and supplies,
ensuring records are up to date and inventories protected.
3.20 Ensures preventative and ongoing maintenance of equipment is carried out, reporting all failures or deficiencies
through appropriate department head.
3.21 In Coordination with the Nursing Department develops, coordinates and directs orientation / training programs
which are competency based, documented and evaluated.
3.22 Demonstrates deep knowledge and participates in fire safety, patient safety, infection control and the other
necessary precautions as per hospital policy.
3.23 Assists in the development of unit Policies and Procedures, which involve patient care issues
3.24 Demonstrates strict adherence to all hospital policies and procedures
3.25 Carries out other duties as instructed by the Nursing Shift Supervisor / Nursing Administrator
3.26 Comply with all OSH and infection control policies, standards and procedures and cooperate with hospital
management to comply those requirements
3.27 Work accordance with the documented OSH procedures and instructions, specific responsibilities
3.28 Be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
3.29 Notifying OSH Hazards, incidents, Near misses and issues and assistance with the preparation of risk
assessments, incident reports
3.30 Comply with Waste management procedures and policies
3.31 Attend applicable OSH/Infection control training programs, mock drills and awareness programs
3.32 Use of appropriate personal protective equipment and safety systems
