What Does a Postdoctoral Associate in Microbiome Research Do?
This position supports research that integrates multi-omics data to uncover the role of the oral microbiome in health and disease. The associate will work closely with Prof. Aashish Jha and will be involved in lab-based experimental work as well as bioinformatics-driven data analysis. This is a hands-on research role requiring strong molecular biology skills and familiarity with microbiome sequencing workflows.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Generate multi-omics datasets from human oral samples
- Perform bioinformatics analysis to study microbiome-host interactions
- Culture microbial samples and maintain laboratory processes
- Support day-to-day lab management and ensure smooth operation
- Contribute to data processing, interpretation, and manuscript preparation
- Collaborate with team members on large-scale cohort studies
- Submit regular research updates and participate in internal meetings
- Train and assist junior researchers or interns in microbiome techniques
What Skills Are Needed for a Postdoctoral Associate in Abu Dhabi?
Education:
- PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Genomics, or a closely related field (recently completed or near completion)
Experience:
- Proven experience in microbiome research and omics data analysis
- Hands-on skills in molecular biology methods, including DNA extraction, library preparation, and sequencing
