What Does a Postdoctoral Associate in Medical Device Research Do?
This role focuses on designing a watch-type wearable blood pressure monitoring system using ECG and PPG (or bio-impedance) technologies. The candidate will engage in device development, circuit design, embedded systems programming, and real-time signal processing, contributing to translational research projects aimed at human health applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and validate CMOS integrated circuits for biomedical applications
- Implement analog, power management, or embedded systems for wearable platforms
- Develop and program microcontrollers with Bluetooth Low Energy connectivity
- Design and assemble PCB boards using tools like Altium or Allegro
- Conduct simulation, prototyping, and preclinical testing
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of engineers, biologists, and clinicians
- Contribute to manuscript writing, research grant proposals, and lab supervision
Job Requirements and Preferred Skills:
Education:
- PhD in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
Experience:
- Proven expertise in CMOS IC design and validation
- Strong background in analog, biomedical, or power circuit development
- Embedded software experience for microcontroller platforms
- Proficiency in PCB layout and fabrication (Altium or Allegro preferred)
- Experience with wearable device development is highly desirable
Technical Skills:
- Biomedical signal processing (ECG, PPG, bio-impedance)
- Low-power wireless communication (Bluetooth LE)
- Hands-on experience with wearable biosensing platforms
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to mentor junior researchers and coordinate multidisciplinary tasks
