What Does a Postdoctoral Fellow in Heat Transfer and ML Do?
This role focuses on the intersection of computational heat transfer, radiative transfer, and machine learning to advance applications in solar photovoltaic (PV) and concentrated solar power (CSP) systems. The selected candidate will develop and apply forward and inverse modeling techniques using machine learning for radiation and fire research, while also contributing to solar energy optimization and object detection systems.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Conduct simulation-based research in computational heat transfer and radiative transport
- Apply machine learning methods to optimize solar PV and CSP systems
- Solve forward and inverse radiation problems in scattering media
- Analyze object detection methods and solar energy applications
- Design, plan, and lead research projects independently
- Co-mentor PhD students and junior researchers in the lab
- Prepare manuscripts for journal and conference publications
- Contribute to interdisciplinary collaboration within the engineering division
What Skills Are Required for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Abu Dhabi?
Education:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field
Experience:
- Proven research in computational heat transfer and radiation modeling
- Experience with machine learning applications in thermal systems
- Prior work in solar energy systems or fire radiation studies is highly desirable
- Publication record in relevant areas of engineering and energy research
Skills:
