What Does a Research Assistant in Genomics and Brain Health Do?
This position supports the institute\'s efforts to analyze large-scale genomics and neuroimaging datasets related to brain health and common non-communicable diseases in the UAE. You will assist in designing research studies, performing data analysis, recruiting participants, and contributing to scientific publications.
What Are the Main Duties and Responsibilities?
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews related to genomics and neuroimaging
- Plan data collection strategies and coordinate participant recruitment
- Analyze genomic and/or neuroimaging datasets using computational tools
- Assist with manuscript writing and dissemination of findings in peer-reviewed journals
- Provide support and mentorship to new lab members
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams
What Skills Are Required for This Research Role in Abu Dhabi?
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in neuroscience, biology, bioinformatics, or a relevant STEM discipline
Technical Experience and Competencies:
- Strong background in neuroimaging and/or genomics data analytics
- Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or R for scientific computing
- Experience with high-performance computing environments is a plus
- Familiarity with machine learning or AI techniques is beneficial
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and in collaborative research teams
