What Does a Production Support Engineer Do?
A Production Support Engineer ensures that business-critical applications and systems are running smoothly in a live production environment. The role involves incident management, root cause analysis, system monitoring, and collaboration with development teams to address production issues and maintain operational efficiency.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Monitor production environments to ensure optimal performance, availability, and stability
- Perform routine system health checks and track performance metrics
- Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to production systems, applications, and infrastructure
- Perform root cause analysis for critical issues and recommend preventive solutions
- Collaborate with development and infrastructure teams to resolve bugs and hardware/network issues
- Support code deployments, upgrades, patches, and ensure smooth rollouts with rollback plans
- Conduct proactive system tuning and recommend improvements to optimize performance
- Document all incidents, actions, and resolutions for knowledge base and audit purposes
- Generate reports for incident management, performance metrics, and system logs
- Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and ensure backup systems are functional
- Monitor and respond to security vulnerabilities in production systems
- Apply patches, upgrades, and ensure systems are up to date with latest security fixes
- Provide 24/7 on-call support for critical production issues when required
- Ensure adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and performance benchmarks
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and users regarding outages and maintenance
What Skills Are Needed for a Production Support Engineer in Dubai?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in production support or IT support roles
- Strong experience in troubleshooting application, system, and infrastructure issues
- Experience working in large-scale environments within IT/Banking/Financial Services is preferred
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of monitoring tools and dashboards
- Expertise in debugging and analyzing logs
- Experience in managing incident and change management processes
- Familiarity with IT helpdesk software and ticketing systems
- Knowledge of security policies, compliance standards, and disaster recovery procedures
- Experience in working with databases, infrastructure, and network troubleshooting
Soft Skills:
