What Does an SAP BODS Consultant Do?
An SAP BODS Consultant plays a critical role in designing and implementing robust ETL workflows for data integration, migration, and transformation. This position requires both technical expertise and architectural vision to ensure the seamless movement of data across complex SAP landscapes.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Design, develop, and implement scalable ETL processes using SAP BusinessObjects Data Services (BODS)
- Work on SAP integration projects involving IDOCs, BAPIs, and other real-time interfaces
- Prepare detailed Technical Specification documents based on project needs
- Lead and participate in end-to-end data migration initiatives across enterprise systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex ETL issues independently using analytical skills
- Install, configure, and maintain BODS components across various environments
- Develop various BODS transformations aligned with business rules and architecture
- Provide accurate estimations for ETL effort and timelines
- Collaborate with functional and technical teams to ensure smooth project delivery
- Work with modern data tools like AWS Glue, Amazon Athena, DBT, and Dagster (preferred)
What Skills Are Needed for a BODS Consultant Role in Dubai?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical discipline
Experience:
- Over 5 years of experience in SAP BODS development and architecture
- Proven involvement in multiple full-cycle data migration projects
Skills:
- Strong proficiency in BODS design, development, and performance tuning
- Expertise in SQL and PL/SQL
- Deep understanding of SAP data structures and integration techniques
- Ability to estimate BODS workload and manage timelines effectively
- Familiarity with cloud-based data tools (AWS Glue, Athena, DBT, Dagster) is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
