Job Overview
The Chief Specialist – Data and AI Governance will play a critical role in defining, implementing, and maintaining RTA\'s AI governance strategies and frameworks. The position ensures responsible AI practices, ethical AI deployment, data quality assurance, risk management, and strategic data monetization while supporting RTA’s broader digital transformation initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement Data and AI Governance frameworks aligned with local and international standards
- Ensure compliance with AI ethics, transparency, fairness, and explainability across all AI applications
- Establish governance controls for AI lifecycle management and monitor regulatory developments
- Define data ownership, classification, and access controls in collaboration with security teams and business owners
- Lead AI risk assessments, bias detection, and fairness auditing processes
- Implement explainable AI (XAI) techniques for transparency in high-impact AI models
- Develop and enforce data quality standards, lineage tracking, metadata management, and data cataloging practices
- Ensure AI datasets meet data protection, security, and consent requirements
- Create data commercialization strategies in line with ethical and legal standards
- Develop AI-driven analytics dashboards to monitor governance KPIs and compliance trends
- Act as an advisor to RTA leadership on Data and AI Governance best practices
- Conduct workshops and training to promote responsible data and AI practices across the organization
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between AI engineers, data scientists, and business stakeholders
- Research and implement innovative governance automation tools for AI validation, bias detection, and compliance reporting
- Oversee the integration of AI ethics principles into public service models
- Design and enforce an AI governance architecture aligned with RTA’s digital transformation roadmap
- Support the continuous evolution of RTA’s data governance roadmap
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to support organizational objectives
Required Skills and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields
- Certifications in AI Governance, Responsible AI, Data Ethics, Data Governance (DAMA), or Enterprise Architecture (TOGAF) preferred
Experience:
- 9 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree, or 11 years with a Bachelor’s degree in data governance, AI governance, or AI risk management, preferably within the public sector
Skills:
- Advanced analytical thinking with strong attention to detail
- Expertise in AI model validation, bias detection, and AI explainability (XAI)
- In-depth knowledge of AI governance frameworks, data ethics, and AI regulations
- Proficient in various software applications supporting governance and compliance
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and motivate high-performance cultures
- Innovative approach to problem-solving and process optimization
- Experience managing large-scale data governance initiatives, preferably in government organizations
