Facilitate communication between Arabic-speaking deaf individuals and hearing persons through sign language interpretation.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in interpretation, linguistics, communication, or a related field (preferred).
Completion of a sign language interpreting program.
Certification:
Certification from a recognized Arabic Sign Language (ArSL) body is required.
Additional certifications in specialized fields (e.g., medical, legal) may be advantageous.
Skills:
Proficiency in Arabic Sign Language (ArSL) or other relevant sign languages is a plus.
Strong verbal communication skills to accurately convey messages.
Excellent listening skills to effectively comprehend spoken language.
Cultural competency and an understanding of deaf culture.
Experience:
Previous experience as a sign language interpreter in various settings (e.g., educational, medical, community).
Familiarity with interpreting equipment and technology is a plus.
