What Is This Research Opportunity About?
This role focuses on advancing automatic code optimization within the Tiramisu framework by leveraging machine learning and deep learning techniques. Tiramisu has shown the ability to outperform hand-optimized code by expert programmers, and your work will help elevate it to the next level—automating complex optimization decisions to deliver faster, more efficient code for real-world applications.
What Are the Main Responsibilities?
- Enhance the current machine learning-based optimization module in Tiramisu
- Design and implement a compiler pass to automatically select code optimizations
- Experiment with advanced techniques like vectorization, loop fusion, blocking, and parallelization
- Collaborate with researchers at NYUAD and MIT
- Write and submit papers to top-tier conferences such as NIPS, PLDI, and ISCA
- Present research findings at international conferences
What Skills and Background Are Required?
Education:
- Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field
Experience and Skills:
- Strong background in compiler design and code optimization
- Proficiency in machine learning or deep learning for systems research
- Programming expertise in C/C++, Python, or LLVM-related frameworks
- Familiarity with high-performance computing platforms (e.g., GPUs, multicore systems)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct impactful research with publications preferred
