What Does a Research Assistant Do?
The research project, titled \"Regaining Trust in Electronic Chips,\" addresses critical vulnerabilities introduced by the globalization of integrated circuit (IC) design and manufacturing. As semiconductor companies increasingly rely on offshore foundries, concerns arise regarding reverse engineering, IP theft, overproduction, and hardware Trojans. This role will support literature reviews, development of new security methodologies, and implementation of design-for-trust techniques to counter such threats.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Conduct comprehensive literature surveys on chip design flow and hardware trust mechanisms
- Design and implement novel approaches for secure and trustworthy chip design
- Run simulations and assess the security and cost implications of proposed techniques
- Assist in experimental tasks and contribute to academic documentation and technical reports
What Skills Are Needed for a Research Assistant in Abu Dhabi?
Education:
- A bachelor\'s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field
Experience and Skills:
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and logic design
- Programming experience in C or C++
- Familiarity with integrated circuit (IC) design flow and electronic design automation (EDA) tools
- Knowledge in VLSI design and computer-aided design (CAD) is a plus
Preferred:
- Involvement in major software development projects
- Academic interest in hardware security and semiconductor trust challenges
