What Does an Assistant Manager – Consumer Industry Research Do?
This position supports Deloitte’s Consumer Center by delivering evidence-based research and insights that drive impactful engagement with clients and stakeholders. The selected candidate will lead research initiatives, develop sector reports, and guide junior team members while working closely with teams in both the US and India.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Conduct in-depth primary and secondary research in Retail and Consumer Products sectors
- Generate thoughtware including white papers, articles, case studies, and presentations
- Identify white space opportunities and propose new research topics
- Design and analyze surveys, interview executives, and interpret qualitative and quantitative data
- Present insights to internal stakeholders and support client engagement
- Collaborate with sector practitioners and cross-functional teams
- Supervise junior researchers and contribute to mentoring
- Promote thoughtware on social media platforms and extend its reach
- Assist in proposal writing and business development initiatives
What Skills Are Required for This Role in Hyderabad?
Education:
- Master’s degree such as MBA, CFA, or equivalent in a relevant field
Experience:
- 6 to 8 years of experience in research roles aligned with the Retail or Consumer Products sectors
- Experience in primary and secondary research, survey design, data analytics, and financial analysis
- Proven authorship or co-authorship of research publications and reports
- Familiarity with working in distributed and virtual international teams
- Prior experience in a Big 4 or consulting environment is preferred
Skills:
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- Expertise in Excel, PowerPoint, and one or more of the following: SPSS, MarketSights, Tableau, PowerBI, R, Python
- Knowledge of databases like AlphaSense, CapitalIQ, and Factiva
- Storyboarding and visualization skills for developing engaging research content
- Comfort with content promotion on LinkedIn and other platforms
