What Does an Account Services Officer Do?
As an Account Services Officer, you will oversee the daily workflow related to account opening and account maintenance, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to service level agreements. You will support internal stakeholders and collaborate across branches and departments to streamline banking operations.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Handle end-to-end processing of account opening and maintenance for Retail, ELITE & GPB (Islamic & Conventional segments)
- Manage workflows efficiently while minimizing operational risk
- Ensure all transactions are processed within SLA timelines
- Support internal branches and offshore teams in resolving account-related queries
- Participate in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) for new systems or updates
- Maintain accurate reports, tick lists, and records for internal audit and compliance
- Review and authorize transactions within your level of responsibility
- Identify process gaps and provide suggestions for continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with Central Bank and FAB regulations
What Skills Are Needed for an Account Services Officer in the UAE?
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Banking, Finance, or Economics
- Minimum 5 years of banking experience, including 2 years in a similar operations role
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of banking procedures, account services, and Central Bank regulations
- Familiarity with macro uploads, account closure protocols, and dormant account handling
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in MS Office and banking systems
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on operational excellence
