What Does a Year 6 Teacher Do?
As a Year 6 Primary Teacher, you will deliver engaging and differentiated lessons that challenge and support students in their final year of Key Stage 2. You will be instrumental in preparing learners for a smooth transition to secondary school, while supporting their personal growth and academic achievement.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Deliver high-quality teaching based on the English National Curriculum for Year 6
- Create engaging lesson plans that support students’ academic, social, and emotional development
- Use data-driven strategies to personalize instruction and maximize student progress
- Maintain strong subject knowledge and implement best practices in literacy, numeracy, and inquiry-based learning
- Collaborate with colleagues to share resources and develop interdisciplinary projects
- Build strong partnerships with parents to support learning both in and out of the classroom
- Take an active role in school-wide events and enrichment activities
- Promote student well-being and uphold safeguarding practices
- Contribute to the school’s positive and inclusive culture by being a role model for high expectations

What Skills Are Needed for a Year 6 Teacher in Dubai?
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education with QTS or PGCE (or equivalent teaching qualification)
Experience:
- Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, particularly Year 6, within a British curriculum school
- Familiarity with transition preparation to Key Stage 3 is highly valued
