What Does a Postdoctoral Associate in Experimental Fluid Dynamics Do?
This role focuses on supporting SITE’s mission to explore hydrodynamic stability and the transition from stability to turbulence. The Postdoctoral Associate will work hands-on with experimental setups and collaborate closely with applied mathematicians and engineers in a highly interdisciplinary environment. Research areas include singularity development, complex system behaviors, and early-stage turbulence.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Conduct advanced experiments in fluid dynamics using laboratory-scale setups
- Collaborate with theoretical and computational researchers to bridge experiment and modeling
- Develop novel methodologies and instrumentation to study hydrodynamic stability
- Analyze and interpret experimental data with modern techniques
- Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at international conferences
- Support the growth of SITE’s laboratory capabilities and mentor junior researchers
What Skills Are Required for a Postdoctoral Role in Fluid Mechanics?
Education:
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (or nearing completion)
Required Experience and Skills:
- Strong foundation in fluid dynamics, stability analysis, or turbulence
- Experience in experimental research and instrumentation
- Evidence of high-quality publications in relevant fields
- Strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred:
