What Does a General Manager for a Hydroelectric Plant Do?
As General Manager, you will be responsible for leading the setup and daily management of Azizi’s hydroelectric power plant, aligning the project with corporate energy diversification strategies. Your leadership will ensure operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability for a major infrastructure initiative.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Act as strategic advisor to the board, offering insights on plant performance, expansion, and innovation
- Lead all aspects of plant operations, including performance monitoring, safety, and compliance
- Manage cross-functional teams, consultants, and technical staff to ensure smooth construction and commissioning
- Ensure compliance with international and regional energy and environmental regulations
- Coordinate with executive leadership to align project outcomes with Azizi’s sustainability and business goals
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and cost optimization strategies to improve project profitability
- Provide regular updates on progress, risks, and stakeholder concerns, especially in coordination with Afghan authorities
- Represent Azizi’s energy interests in key meetings, industry forums, and governmental engagements
What Skills Are Needed for This Role in Dubai?
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years in senior management within the energy sector, including 5+ years in hydroelectric operations
- Proven track record in large-scale plant setup, grid integration, and operational leadership
- Deep understanding of dam infrastructure, turbine systems, and energy efficiency technologies
Skills:
- Strong project financing knowledge and ability to manage high-budget infrastructure projects
- Expertise in international energy regulations and compliance frameworks
- Ability to operate in complex, multi-stakeholder environments across borders
- Effective communicator with strong negotiation and cross-cultural leadership skills
- Proficiency in strategic planning, technical reporting, and operational budgeting
