What Does a Senior Technical Architect Do?
As a Senior Technical Architect, you will lead the architectural technical design process from authority submissions through execution, ensuring all design documentation aligns with both regulatory compliance and the creative vision of each project. You’ll mentor junior architects, work closely with consultants, and safeguard the technical quality across all project stages.
What Are the Key Responsibilities?
- Lead technical development of hospitality projects from concept to detailed design
- Oversee and review detailed construction documents ensuring quality and code compliance
- Coordinate with consultants, MEP teams, structural engineers, and contractors to resolve technical issues
- Handle authority submissions, including compliance with DTCM, Dubai Municipality, FLS Code, IPC, FPA
- Ensure adherence to international standards including IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE
- Guide the team through BIM workflows and manage Revit-based coordination
- Maintain quality assurance throughout design stages, ensuring constructability and functionality
- Align deliverables with project timelines and work in sync with the Lead Technical Architect
- Mentor and support the growth of junior technical staff in architectural detailing and code knowledge
- Support multiple projects simultaneously and ensure compliance with hospitality sector expectations
What Skills Are Needed for a Senior Technical Architect Role in Dubai?
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or a related discipline
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in architectural design
- Must have completed at least 4 hotel or hospitality projects
- Strong background in authority submissions and compliance documentation
Technical Competencies:
- In-depth understanding of DTCM, FLS, FPA, IPC, and relevant Dubai regulatory codes
- Advanced knowledge of BIM workflows with hands-on proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
- Familiarity with international codes including IBC, NFPA, ASHRAE
- Ability to interpret contracts and lead coordination on technical matters
Soft Skills:
- Detail-oriented with excellent decision-making and leadership capabilities
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
